Sky Is Blue, Flowers Are Blooming

Yes, flowers are blooming and the sky is blue because my exams are over, I’m done with my first year in university, and here comes the summer holidays!

I’d like to think that this would be a pleasant surprise to those who have been visiting my almost dead blog from time to time but haven’t seen any updates since April. But oh well… nevertheless, I’m back here to express my views and share any learnings like how I used to before university took away my life. So let this post be a little reflection on how the first year of university has been.

In terms of studies, I can actually say that it’s not tremendously stressful. I mean that’s if you’re just looking to get through university by simply scraping through every subject. On the other hand, if you’re looking to do well and score distinctions and stuff like that, it’s a totally different story. It really does take determination and alot of discipline, and some brains I suppose (you can’t expect to do really well if you’re a dumb fuck right?) In short, it’s not difficult to pass, but definitely not the slightest bit easy to score. That’s for first year Bachelor of Business undergraduates at Monash at least. I do believe and expect everything to get significantly more intense and demanding in 2nd and 3rd year. But let’s just take things one at a time, cause for now, it’s holidays for 3 full months!!!!!

As for my personal life, well… of course nothing went as planned after I met Yhihhuua. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not at all a bad thing. A lesson that I learnt back in secondary school was that you can’t have everything you want at the same time. We all have so much time in a day, week, month, year and life, and yet there are so many things we want to do. I guess it’s simply down to how important those things are to us, how we prioritize them, and the choices that we make. In my case, I want to go diving, get back to thai boxing, get fit, trade forex, read, get social. But like I mentioned, we don’t have all the time in the world and we have to make choices. And I made the choice to commit myself to studies and this cute girl. It may not sound like alot, but trust me, studies (to do well) and this cute girl do take up alot of time. Perhaps it just takes more time since it’s the first year and we got to get used to everything.

Come next year, I seek to be more active in diving and getting back some level of fitness. At my age, I suppose it’s not a bad idea to keep in shape and do some of the things I love to do before facing the reality of having to make a living. That reminds me that I’m turning 21 soon. Damn…we’re all growing up

Till the next time I’m back here (pretty soon, I promise),
good luck to all those still having exams and happy holidays to everyone! =)

Back again (for the 2nd time)

Yes, if you haven’t already noticed, my posts are always about returning from a long absence of blogging. Oh well…what can I say, but thanks to how much work there is to do at Monash. Even though there’s only like 12 hours of lessons a week (and no, I don’t skip any classes if that’s what’s going through your minds) there’s quite a substantial amount of work to get done. And me being the good boy that I’ve always been is doing all my homework. Well…we shall see if I’m able to keep up with this throughout my uni life. I’ll be quite pleased if I do make it as far as the end of year 1.

Oh yes…and the reason that I’ve actually found time to blog is because I’m at the airport now and I’ve got nothing better to do. Brought along some work, but not exactly in the mood for it right now cause all I can think of is what to do and eat when I’m back in Singapore. Perhaps I’ll get some work done on the plane later. Won’t want to spend too much time doing my assignments over Easter break when I can spend more time with my love ones (that includes my girlfriend, just in case she reads this and is wondering :-D ).

Easter break is going to be awesome siol…
I think my girlfriend will make a pretty good PA. She’s able to plan alot of shit and takes action fast (like making phone calls and sending emails and all), which is how a PA should exactly be. Only thing is I don’t have money to hire her, but yea, what’s a girlfriend for right? Probably the most personal a personal assistant can ever get. Which is a good thing btw. Haha… I hope she’ll be happy when she sees this. I’m actually praising her.

It’s about time to board the plane, so you’ll hear more from me and my blog when…….my next post comes.

Happy Easter everyone, and happy holidays to friends in aussie. =)

Back Again

Again, I’m back from a long absence from blogging. This is the first entry I’m posting since I got to Melbourne, cos I’ve been either too busy or too lazy, but busy most of the time. I have been here for almost 2 weeks and pretty much settled down already. Room still has abit of tidying up to go, but that’s secondary(can wait for girlfriend to come over to help me out). School should be fine and first year can’t really go wrong. Just done with enrolment today and orientation won’t be for another week.

As for the girlfriend, everything is going pretty fine. It’s been rather tough the first few days, cos I’m so busy and she’s so free. Anyways that’s way behind us already and we’ll be good if we keep going at our current pace. Really excited about her coming over man. So much to look forward to. We’ve got less than 5 months to go. 5 months ain’t that long lah(sense the optimism). She’s really important and we shall figure out whatever obstacles may come.

I’m gradually finding some time to place a couple of trades or so, after some period of inactivity in my account. So that’s a good sign, and shall find some time for books as well. Not the most impressed at the current status of my learning curve, but all is in place to keep it back on track.

The road is long, but my heart will go on.

I thought yesterday’s treatment was great. Today was even more gao lat. I woke up(or rather she woke me up) and the first thing I saw was her face. She took a bus down from TPY, bought porridge from gardens and walked all the way in to surprise me the very moment I opened my eyes. Super touched yo, until want to melt. Then she kept me company the whole day, cos I wasn’t getting any better until towards the end of the day. Super awesome girlfriend man. And she’s really starting to score points with my Mum. Tomorrow still ask whether want to ask my Mum along for dim sum buffet….Somehow she’s super hooked on to steamboat ever since she had steamboat with my family on CNY. Shall attempt to arrange another one before I leave, since she likes it so much.

Suddenly

It has been quite the most amazing start of any year I have had as far as I remember and hopefully it gets even better. So much so that I now can’t bear to leave Singapore. So much have happened over the past couple of weeks. When a special(and I mean like super kick-ass special) someone comes into your life, it can change so many things. It’s amazing how much good someone can actually see in me. Even more than myself. Don’t ask me how or why. Beats me too…

I was quite sick today while we were out shopping today. So decided not to go Ignious’ place and headed for home right after lunch. She wasn’t feeling all too good as well, but way better than me. So I had the “king” treatment. She took warm water, brought the entire tissue pack from downstairs and fetch the medicine while I was taking a shower. She then wrapped me up in the blanket and fed me warm water from the mug. My mum doesn’t even do any of those things for me like since I was a little kid unless I’m like sick until dengue fever in sec1. So can you imagine how touched I was?

6 Feb is coming and time is of the essence. So let us cherish our time together and give each other more to fight for over the next 5 months. I’m sure we’ll make it, yes we will.

PS. I get the feeling that my posts are starting to get slightly bimbo-tic. What do you think?

Surprise, surprise

It is amazing how quickly things, feelings, thoughts and people can change. You never know when just one event, one conversation, one person or even one sms can change everything. How one of those occurrences can cause you to change the way you wake up and face life every single day for the rest of your life. The reality is that we can never be prepared for surprises that come our way. And the worse(or sometimes best) part is sometimes you can see them coming but you just can’t avoid it. But don’t be mistaken that these surprises that fall upon you are always unpleasant, and you don’t always have to avoid it. Because great surprises do come by and some are known as miracles. I have just seen or rather experienced a tremendously great one that totally caught me off guard. Like just simply swooped me off my feet and before I know it, it has changed the way I feel, think and act every single day. And when you find out about what happened to me, it’ll totally sweep you off your feet too. Like big time I tell ya =)

The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us”

2009

What is New Year without a New Year post right? So here goes(although it’s quite a few days past New Year already).  Been a little busy the past few days lah, plus my laptop was giving me problems. Anyways “system restore” saved the day and so I can blog about 2008/2009.

2008 started off a little rough with the changes going on in Sirius and the whole team. Not forgetting my big bro who was going through a really rough time. Really glad that things turned out for the better. My directions were still a little vague then, with so many things going on(in terms of my future career and stuff you know~~). I could say the first half of 2008 was quite a period of transition for me and my thoughts about my future. I’m proud that I remained positive all the way even when I was confused and was quite unsure what the next step was. I really grew to know myself better and have greater clarity as to where my strengths and weaknesses lie.

Now that’s just the career part. There were some transitions going on in NS(National Service – in case some dumb-nut got no idea) too. Some joker in the RSAF decided that he was too free and did an entire restructure of the RSAF. So thanks to that joker my team(Pioneer Team as we are known) and I had to move down to HQ, where there were alot more politics and shit going on, simply because it involved mostly office work. Of which isn’t my job scope, therefore I was really busy finding things to do all day. The transition down to HQ wasn’t so easy and smooth simply thanks to some assholes who make things difficult. It’s a good thing I found my way in to the store(our store is air-con btw) and the company over there was fantastic man. That’s when HQ became better than the former place we were at.There’s Shaun, Kelvin, Don, Robin the ang gong siao, DS who left in September and Kenneth who joined us later. Not forgetting Samuel(happy ORD bro, welcome to the club) and Staff Viji who is always covering up for us and finding reasons for us to be in the store. I really had no regrets when I ended NSF life man. There were ups and downs, but the people is really what NS is about, or at least for me.

2009 is looking to be extremely exciting, with all the real action really starting when I move to Melbourne. I’m quite excited about school, to get back to studying and all. Staying with Sherman and Zi Tang is gonna be awesome fun. And this time it should be interesting with Deborah over there as well. Some friends will be coming over to visit along the way, so that’ll be cool. Wait till they see me on my new toy yo! No one has strongly approved of it yet, other than big bro saying it’ll be cool. Oh well…Happy 2009 to anyone reading and let the good times roll!

Christmas celebrations kicked off last night at Daryl’s place with just 5 of us. It’s was one hell of a dinner I tell you. Had Canadian Pizza, mushroom soup, sausages, and nachos with some seriously awesome salsa. And of cause wine and Log cake. Oh yea, the 5 of us finished 4 bottles of wine. So I guess that gives you a pretty good idea of how the night went. I was quite surprised that I still did fine in some Guitar Hero.21122008121
Sebas took a picture and insisted that I looked really excited and said Merry Christmas.

Tonight is cousin’s wedding. And I’m quite happy to be meeting up with the relatives and cousins from my Dad’s side again. Really nice company.

Revival

It’s been like…more than a month since my last entry and the only trail left behind by me was “ORD Lo!!!”. Which partly explains by absence from blogging. And so here I am to revive my blog, and since I’m rather free now.

I’ve pretty much been busy with Forex and catching up with friends after returning from a couple of overseas trips. Oh yes, for the record, I didn’t go out to find one of those jobs that pays a few dollars an hour doing pretty nonconstructive things not because I’m lazy, but I simply believe I can make better money with trading. Plus I can totally make better use of my time.  However, as everyone knows economy is in real bad shape and Forex hasn’t been easy either. There’s way too much speculation going on and currency movements were really unpredictable and all over the place. It has been getting better over the past week though, with the release of major economic news that helped in suppressing speculative fluctuations. Anyways enough about Forex and on with the latest happenings.

My coming week ahead is gonna be a busy one, with Christmas just a week away, all the parties going on and so many things to do(like clearing up my room). There’s 4e2 BBQ tomorrow and I’m really looking forward man. Haven’t seen some of them in quite a while. And Deborah’s back. Finally meeting her since she left for Melbourne in July. Oh, FYI I’ll be joining her right after CNY. It’s so cool man. I’m starting university and she’s starting term 3 in Trinity. Lol.. In other words I’m half a year ahead of her. Power right? I wonder if she visits my blog and whether she’ll get irritated and come after me at the BBQ or something. Oh well, who cares anyway. Haha.. I’m only left with a month plus before I move over. I intend to bring over as much as possible on this trip cos I’m travelling up with my parents. And for travelling with them my dad upgraded my ticket to join them in business class. How nice right? Best thing is he only upgraded the ticket to Melbourne but not for the return journey. Not that it bothers me though, I’m really fine with economy. Just one of the privileges I get for travelling with the folks that’s worth mentioning.

Speaking of moving over to Melbourne, I’m really excited about the whole thing. Meeting up with old friends and starting university life. Among a whole agenda planned out is joining the uni Muay Thai club, do some diving(definitely the Great Barrel Reef one day), continue to trade Forex as always and also to acquire a “something” of which I cannot disclose cos my parents might destroy me if they find out. Hehe… Only people who know is my eldest brother and some close friends. And we shall keep it that way for less chances for the word to reach the ears of my folks. =D
