Yes, flowers are blooming and the sky is blue because my exams are over, I’m done with my first year in university, and here comes the summer holidays!
I’d like to think that this would be a pleasant surprise to those who have been visiting my almost dead blog from time to time but haven’t seen any updates since April. But oh well… nevertheless, I’m back here to express my views and share any learnings like how I used to before university took away my life. So let this post be a little reflection on how the first year of university has been.
In terms of studies, I can actually say that it’s not tremendously stressful. I mean that’s if you’re just looking to get through university by simply scraping through every subject. On the other hand, if you’re looking to do well and score distinctions and stuff like that, it’s a totally different story. It really does take determination and alot of discipline, and some brains I suppose (you can’t expect to do really well if you’re a dumb fuck right?) In short, it’s not difficult to pass, but definitely not the slightest bit easy to score. That’s for first year Bachelor of Business undergraduates at Monash at least. I do believe and expect everything to get significantly more intense and demanding in 2nd and 3rd year. But let’s just take things one at a time, cause for now, it’s holidays for 3 full months!!!!!
As for my personal life, well… of course nothing went as planned after I met Yhihhuua. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not at all a bad thing. A lesson that I learnt back in secondary school was that you can’t have everything you want at the same time. We all have so much time in a day, week, month, year and life, and yet there are so many things we want to do. I guess it’s simply down to how important those things are to us, how we prioritize them, and the choices that we make. In my case, I want to go diving, get back to thai boxing, get fit, trade forex, read, get social. But like I mentioned, we don’t have all the time in the world and we have to make choices. And I made the choice to commit myself to studies and this cute girl. It may not sound like alot, but trust me, studies (to do well) and this cute girl do take up alot of time. Perhaps it just takes more time since it’s the first year and we got to get used to everything.
Come next year, I seek to be more active in diving and getting back some level of fitness. At my age, I suppose it’s not a bad idea to keep in shape and do some of the things I love to do before facing the reality of having to make a living. That reminds me that I’m turning 21 soon. Damn…we’re all growing up
Till the next time I’m back here (pretty soon, I promise),
good luck to all those still having exams and happy holidays to everyone! =)
